Pro Bono

Pro bono work as part of our corporate responsibility

It is important for us to work for a responsible society and to support community and our stakeholders, as well as our customers, in finding responsible solutions. That is why we also strive to promote sustainability through practical assistance by participating in various pro bono projects.

We participate pro bono in various legal projects on sustainable development with independent organisations. As an example, we are assisting a sustainable port logistics start-up on corporate and commercial legal issues relating tothe development of a unique container handling solution aimed at decarbonising ports and harbours.

Our experts are members of various working groups promoting renewable energy development projects and legislation, and we share knowledge and develop legislation through our network and with stakeholders. For example, we regularly support the Finnish Wind Power Association, helping its members to understand the legal and regulatory framework for wind
power development in Finland and to promote legislative changes to accelerate the development of the Finnish wind industry.

In terms of pro bono work in promoting a diverse and equal society, we have assisted many charities with equality focused projects. For example, we assisted the leading charity, 28 Too Many, which is focused on preventing Female Genetic Mutilation, by providing a summary of the Finnish law position on FGM. We also advised Stonewall, a charity supporting rights and protection for the LGBTQ+ community, on the Finnish law position for a guide for corporate employers to assist them in collecting data on LGBTQ+ employees in a manner that is compliant with GDPR.

We assisted iheart – Innate Health Education and Resilience Training, a UK-headquartered charity dedicated to helping young people uncover their innate resilience and mental well-being through delivery of specialised courses and programmes for schools, teachers, young people and their families, in expanding their charitable operations to Finland.

We work to promote peace, democracy, and good, fair and transparent governance. We provided a summary of the Finnish law position on access to banking services for a guide prepared by PILnet, the global pro bono clearinghouse and its pro bono partner, the European Center for Not-For-Profit Law.
