Tuomas Saraste specialises in competition law and has over 30 years of experience in handling antitrust and merger control matters before the Finnish and other national competition authorities as well as the European Commission. He has represented clients in most major Finnish cartel investigations (Asphalt paving, Raw wood, Insulation materials as well as Power transmission lines) before the national administrative and judicial authorities, as well as in cartel investigations before the European Commission.
He has also represented clients in follow-on cartel litigation before the national courts. Tuomas regularly advises on dominance issues and represents companies in the related proceedings, and in merger control cases he has negotiated terms for Phase II clearances in several cases.
Tuomas also advises on state aid and foreign (non-EU) subsidies issues and advises on foreign direct investment (FDI) questions.
Tuomas has been ranked and recognised for years in various international rankings (such as Chambers, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers) and is a leading lecturer on competition law.
