HPP Attorneys Ltd is delighted to announce that it has invited three highly-experienced lawyers to join the partnership. Partners (elect) Outi Iso-Markku and Laura Leino strengthen our Environmental, Natural Resources and Energy teams, and Julia Pekkala strengthens our Dispute Resolution team. Outi and Julia have been promoted to partner from within HPP, having been at HPP for several years, and Laura rejoins HPP after a varied career outside private practice.
Outi Iso-Markku specialises in environmental law, advising clients on complex and demanding permitting processes for a broad range of large industrial, energy and infrastructure projects. Outi specialises in environmental permitting, EIA, land use and planning issues and related administrative court proceedings. She also has extensive experience in environmental criminal law and legal issues related to the circular economy. Previously, she worked in the Environmental Protection Department of the Ministry of the Environment, where she was responsible for drafting legislation on waste, products, and chemicals. Outi is also a member of the Environmental Law Expert Team of the Finnish Bar Association.
Laura Leino specialises in environmental law, with extensive practical experience in assisting clients in permit, EIA and land use processes for large energy, infrastructure, and industrial projects. Laura returns to HPP from the Supreme Administrative Court, where she specialised in environmental and land use matters. Previously, she has worked on environment and green transition projects at HPP in a Senior Counsel role, at an energy and environmental consulting firm, and at an energy company, as well as at the United Nations. Laura will bring her in-depth knowledge to transactions and client projects, ensuring HPP continues to provide pragmatic input and solutions to solve issues arising in project development, transactions and finance cases related to the relevant sectors.
Julia Pekkala specialises in dispute resolution. She assists clients in international and domestic arbitration and litigation as well as alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Julia has acted as counsel in various large disputes relating to, inter alia, energy, construction, project delivery and antitrust damages claims. In addition, Julia regularly advises clients in conflict avoidance and risk management.
