HPP’s EU, Competition and Regulatory law practice group is a leading team in Finland within its field. Our lawyers have extensive experience from both public (Finnish/EU competition/European regulatory authorities) and private sectors. Our team advises clients on the whole spectrum of competition law-related issues, offering a solution-oriented approach to support clients’ operations, while reducing legal risks. We advise clients on M&A matters and the related regulatory processes, contractual arrangements (cooperation with competitors and supply chain arrangements), various types of joint venture issues, competition law questions arising on highly concentrated markets (dominant position) as well as on preventative strategies and risk mitigation issues (compliance programmes and training, as well as internal competition audits).

Advice in interpreting the changing competition regulation
HPP’s competition team is regularly involved in merger control and clearance notifications to the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority and the European Commission and have significant experience of negotiating conditions for clearance of transactions which present competition concerns. The team also regularly advises on state aid issues.
In addition, the practice regularly represents companies in foreign direct investment proceedings before the national screening authority (the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland) and more generally advises on FDI related issues in M&A context.
