As a leading advisor on green transition mandates, HPP was pleased to have assisted Swiss energy services provider, Alpiq, on its acquisition of a majority 54.9% stake in the Finnish hydrogen pioneer P2X Solutions. HPP acted as Alpiq’s legal advisor on the transaction.

According to Alpiq, the acquisition emphasises its commitment to both climate protection and strengthening the security of supply. The partnership-based participating interest, which primarily takes the form of a capital increase and the purchase of a minority stake from an institutional investor, is effective immediately. The acquisition strengthens Alpiq’s position in the Nordic countries and in its production of green hydrogen in Northern Europe.

P2X Solutions is a Power-to-X developer focusing on producing and selling green hydrogen and synthetic fuels. Green hydrogen is used in various Finnish industries or as fuel for trucks; e-methane for feeding into the gas grid and e-methanol for the international market.

HPP’s Energy team is ranked as one of the leading sector-focused teams in the Finnish legal market, with a track record of advising on some of the most significant renewable energy, decarbonization and green transition projects currently taking place in Finland. Combined with HPP’s strong transactional experience, this expertise makes HPP an excellent choice of legal counsel for transactions and projects in these rapidly-evolving and critical sectors.
